How massage could benefit you

I launched The Holistic Hideaway two years ago with the intention of helping those who have found themselves too stressed to out find a way to really switch off and relax. During this time I’ve found that massage is one of the best relaxation aids.

There are many benefits of massage; ranging from pain relief to improved digestion and circulation, but one of the biggest for my clients is stress relief; so many people get caught up in the endless rush of everyday life that they often believe that they do not have the time to truly relax. These people exist within a bubble of stress and it becomes normal. This stress can have a detrimental physical effect on your body, leading to muscle tension, depression, high blood pressure and even heart disease.

Stress, anxiety and worry can leave you feeling fatigued which in turn will affect your efficiency, motivation and productivity at work and in your every-day life. This in turn adds to the same worry and stress, leaving you in a vicious cycle which is very difficult to break. A relaxation massage will help you to unwind and relieve you of those worries, leaving you feeling energised and ready to focus clearly on any problems that may arise.

Stress can also cause tension headaches which result in pain radiating up your neck into the back of the head, this pain can be very debilitating and prevents you from thinking clearly. Regular massage can help to prevent and reduce the symptoms relating to stress and restore your overall feeling of tranquility, releasing tension in the muscles and allowing your body the time to begin the self healing process.

There is even evidence that massage increases the release of dopamine and serotonin; natural hormones which improve mood and reduce the effects of stress, and in turn allowing us to develop a restful sleep pattern.

Massage is also a wonderful way to reduce your pain, whether it is in the back, joints, head or even chronic pain resulting from illness or injury. By reducing tension in the muscles and swelling around the joints you should feel a significant improvement in this discomfort.

Increased circulation helps your body to remove waste products more efficiently.

We should not have to live with pain or stress and having regular massage can really help you to reduce both, leaving you able to lead a happier and more productive life.

Please note that massage is a complimentary therapy and should not be used instead of medicine prescribed by your GP.
