Welcome to ‘Castle View’, our charming holiday cottage designed for two, located in the beautiful historic market town of Tutbury, Staffordshire with amazing views of, you guessed it, Tutbury Castle.
In fact ‘amazing views’ doesn’t really cover it. The cottage backs directly onto the Castle (famous for housing Mary Queen of Scots for a large portion of her life whilst held prisoner by Queen Elizabeth I) and where the garden of the cottage ends the castle moat begins. In fact the review from our first ever guests sums it up perfectly;

Welcome to Potter's Lodge yurt. Potter's Lodge is one of our three beautiful yurts at Peake's Retreats. Potter's Lodge was the second of our three yurts to be installed and finished ready for bookings and we have been welcoming guests to stay in this yurt since March 2018.

Is Glamping going to remain popular now that International Travel is becoming easier?

Are we going to see an end to the Glamping trend now that international travel is becoming easier?
This week the government announced that they are scrapping the traffic light system for international travel and that only countries on the red list will have restrictions in place for both UK and non-UK residents travelling to the UK.
So does that mean an end to the staycation boom we have been experiencing since the end of the first UK lockdown in July 2020?

Walking in Staffordshire/ Derbyshire near Peake’s Retreats glampsite

One of the great things about the location of both our glampsite and our Cyprus accommodation is that there are plenty of places to go walking nearby.
In Staffordshire at the glampsite we have lot’s of beautiful walks directly from our doorstep without the need to drive to get to them. Visit the Staffordshire county council website here to view a map of all of the footpaths
The local pub is just a 1.2 mile walk away and you can either walk over the fields or down the country lane (note there is no footpath). At a steady pace it should take you around 20 minutes to get there (a little longer if you have children with you) Just ask us to point you in the right direction.
Staying in the village there are some lovely routes which take you on a tour of the local area, it was during a random walking adventure a few years ago that I discovered Anslow had a woodland with over 28.5k trees. A lovely place to go and let your (well behaved) dog have a little lead free time. Our cockapoo Monty loves exploring here.

It was such a beautiful morning when I opened the curtains in the master bedroom at the villa this morning, and looked out from the balcony past the pool and down toward the unspoilt views of the inviting deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
It prompted a very spontaneous decision to drive up the coast and take a trip to Karpaz.
The Karpaz peninsula is known as the most unspoilt place of Northern Cyprus, and probably the entire island. Some of the peninsula is a protected natural heritage area, meaning there is little to no new building permitted.
