We are very proud of our reviews and recommendations across the various platforms and we work very hard to maintain them, we like to think that we 'go out of our way' for our guests and whenever possible we will do whatever we can to make your stay the best. Of course there are limitations on this, and sometimes that is financial limitations.
We get asked a lot about our hot tubs and how the booking system works. So we thought now was a good time to go into a bit of detail about what you can expect to find onsite, what your accommodation will have access to and when/how you can use them...
Extras you can add to your booking at Peake's Retreats Glampsite
Here at Peake’s Retreats we want to make your stay the best it can possibly be.
This is why we have chosen only the very best and prettiest furnishings, beautiful bedding, and lovely throws. We fill our yurt field with bright and beautiful flowers every year, and even the hot tubs were chosen because of those they look.
We want to make sure everyone is entertained so we have the children’s play area in our enclosed Glamping field, allowing parents to relax and enjoy their getaway while their children are entertained.
Places to Visit in Staffordshire: Branston Water Park
I was born in Burton On Trent, Staffordshire, and lived the majority of my childhood in Rosliston, South Derbyshire. Which is only a 15 minute drive from Branston Water park. I can’t say that we visited all the time as we had Rosliston Forestry centre and the National Forest on our doorstep...
We have received a lot of enquiries since we first opened following the lockdown earlier this year, and with a lot of people asking the same questions (let’s face it we’re all a bit confused as to what we can and can’t do at the moment) we thought it best to pop them in an easy to read blog post. So here goes:...
In the last few months the world as we knew it changed entirely, and whilst we will be opening to guests again on July 4th we have also had to make some changes to the way we operate to ensure we are following government guidelines, but more importantly to keep our guests and staff safe...
There are many benefits of massage; ranging from pain relief to improved
digestion and circulation, but one of the biggest for my clients is stress relief;
so many people get caught up in the endless rush of everyday life that they
often believe that they do not have the time to truly relax. These
people exist within a bubble of stress and it becomes normal. This
stress can have a detrimental physical...
The hospitality industry has been hugely affected by the coronavirus pandemic over the last few months, and in accordance with government guidelines we will remain closed for the month of June and expect to open to guests on...
In the last few days we have received a number of enquiries relating to the Corona virus pandemic which is affecting us all at the moment.
The queries are all the same: what are our plans and how will it affect their booking?
At this point in time we are aware the situation is very fluid and changing constantly. We are doing our best to keep up to date with all news relating to the corona virus and offer advice accordingly.
Walking in Staffordshire/ Derbyshire near Peake’s Retreats glampsite
One of the great things about the location of both our glampsite and our Cyprus accommodation is that there are plenty of places to go walking nearby.
In Staffordshire at the glampsite we have lot’s of beautiful walks directly from our doorstep without the need to drive to get to them. Visit the Staffordshire county council website here to view a map of all of the footpaths
The local pub is just a 1.2 mile walk away and you can either walk over the fields or down the country lane (note there is no footpath). At a steady pace it should take you around 20 minutes to get there (a little longer if you have children with you) Just ask us to point you in the right direction.
Staying in the village there are some lovely routes which take you on a tour of the local area, it was during a random walking adventure a few years ago that I discovered Anslow had a woodland with over 28.5k trees. A lovely place to go and let your (well behaved) dog have a little lead free time. Our cockapoo Monty loves exploring here.
What’s on near us in Staffordshire/Derbyshire in July
Are you thinking of staying with us at the Staffordshire glampsite in July? Here’s a list of some ideas for things to do locally to us in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. All within a 45 minute drive. There are family fun days, festivals, food evenings, drink events and more, something for everyone:
10 reasons to stay with us at our glampsite in Staffordshire
10 reasons to try out glamping in our Staffordshire yurts:
Some people absolutely love camping; the idea of getting back to basics, getting close to nature, going off grid, taking time away from all of the screens that surround us in our daily life, and re-connecting as a family, or with friends....
It was such a beautiful morning when I opened the curtains in the master bedroom at the villa this morning, and looked out from the balcony past the pool and down toward the unspoilt views of the inviting deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
It prompted a very spontaneous decision to drive up the coast and take a trip to Karpaz.
The Karpaz peninsula is known as the most unspoilt place of Northern Cyprus, and probably the entire island. Some of the peninsula is a protected natural heritage area, meaning there is little to no new building permitted. Allowing nature to run free in it’s natural environment and creating an area that is one of the least polluted in Europe...
March in Cyprus is amazing! It is a time of year when not many tourists visit the island and consequently a lot of places aren’t yet fully open. For example we have been to two beaches this week that did not have the sun beds out, they hadn’t done a beach clean up yet so there w...
One of the first questions we get asked by guests staying in the yurts or The Loft is; ‘where would you recommend for good food?’
We are actually really lucky in that we have some amazing restaurants and pubs very close by. Our local pub, The Bell Inn, is a great choice, but there are plenty of other options out there and we have decided to use the blog to provide you with a little bit more information about the options available and the places we would choose to go to ourselves.
We started at The White Swan in Walton which is roughly 4 miles away from us in Anslow...
I thought I would use the blog to explain a bit about our site and how it works and why we have designed it the way it is.
Since we took our first booking on 19th January 2018 we have had so many more guests than I imagined and it has truly been fantastic. So first of all thank you to everyone who has stayed with us so far, has booked to stay with us in the future and who is considering booking...
We officially opened to guests on 3rd January 2018. We were really excited to do so and it couldn't come around fast enough. We got our planning permission in September 2016, but plans were halted whilst the landscaping was approved...
We throughly enjoyed Halloween this year; due to our location (out in the sticks) we get absolutely no trick or treaters, and its very unlikely that we ever will, so to be completely honest we use this as an excuse not to do anything in terms of decoration for Halloween...
After a lovely 5 days spent near Hartington at Upper Hurst Farm campsite, in Bertie. We decided to take a last minute trip to the NEC to go and have a mooch around the caravan and motorhome show for some inspiration.
We loaded the kids into Florence, bundled Dan Dan into the drivers seat ...
Another milestone to the completion of the yurts is our new shower block. This was started last week and will be finished in the next few days.
A Beautiful Day in Burton on Trent
The weather was beautiful on Sunday so we took a long walk along the side of the river Trent which flows through Burton on Trent.
Famous for its brewing history, Burton is a lovely town to visit and only 10 minutes drive from Peake's Retreats.
Not long now, work is under way
Finally we are starting to see our first Yurt start to take shape ....
Inside Our Finnish BBQ hut
Our Finnish BBQ hut is a lovely place to have a BBQ if it is raining (or even if it isn’t). The hut seats 24 people so is very spacious and a lovely place to get together if you are a larger group. You can either bring your own coals or purchase them from us on arrival.
