It was such a beautiful morning when I opened the curtains in the master bedroom at the villa this morning, and looked out from the balcony past the pool and down toward the unspoilt views of the inviting deep blue Mediterranean Sea.

It prompted a very spontaneous decision to drive up the coast and take a trip to Karpaz.

The Karpaz peninsula is known as the most unspoilt place of Northern Cyprus, and probably the entire island. Some of the peninsula is a protected natural heritage area, meaning there is little to no new building permitted. Allowing nature to run free in it’s natural environment and creating an area that is one of the least polluted in Europe...

I am trying to make Thursday a day where Ted and I take Niamh out for a spot of lunch while the boys are at school.

Not only is it a great way to find more places to eat in our local area, that I can then tell you all about, but it is a fantastic excuse to spend some quality time together.

The Mug Tug is a converted barge, which can be found moored at Barton Marina, just outside of The Apple Tree coffee shop.

It is always a hit with our children when we take them to paint a pot, which we don’t do often enough....

One of the first questions we get asked by guests staying in the yurts or The Loft is; ‘where would you recommend for good food?’

We are actually really lucky in that we have some amazing restaurants and pubs very close by. Our local pub, The Bell Inn, is a great choice, but there are plenty of other options out there and we have decided to use the blog to provide you with a little bit more information about the options available and the places we would choose to go to ourselves.

We throughly enjoyed Halloween this year; due to our location (out in the sticks) we get absolutely no trick or treaters, and its very unlikely that we ever will, so to be completely honest we use this as an excuse not to do anything in terms of decoration for Halloween...

After a lovely 5 days spent near Hartington at Upper Hurst Farm campsite, in Bertie. We decided to take a last minute trip to the NEC to go and have a mooch around the caravan and motorhome show for some inspiration.

Springtime walks into Anslow

Even though we do it everyday we always find something new to talk about.

Last week it was the new lambs we could see in the fields. A few weeks ago it was the buds on the trees starting to appear again. This week it’s the blackberry bushes.

Shower Block to be Completed in the next few days

Another milestone to the completion of the yurts is our new shower block. This was started last week and will be finished in the next few days.

A Beautiful Day in Burton on Trent

The weather was beautiful on Sunday so we took a long walk along the side of the river Trent which flows through Burton on Trent.

Famous for its brewing history, Burton is a lovely town to visit and only 10 minutes drive from Peake's Retreats.

Our Finnish BBQ hut is a lovely place to have a BBQ if it is raining (or even if it isn’t). The hut seats 24 people so is very spacious and a lovely place to get together if you are a larger group. You can either bring your own coals or purchase them from us on arrival.
