The Local Area

We are located 12 miles from Ashbourne which is a lovely picturesque market town located on the edge of the Peak district.

We are 4 miles from the brewing town of Burton Upon Trent, famous for Bass beer. Here you will find The National Brewing museum along with plenty of bars and restaurants and some well known high street shops. There are also some lovely walks around the river Trent.

For the more serious shoppers we are only 12 miles from the city of Derby, home to the Intu shopping centre, where you will find many well-known high street shops and Franchise restaurants.

If you enjoy cycling there are plenty of places to go;

  • The Tissington trail is a well-known cycle trail/bridle path which runs from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay, for 13 miles of traffic free cycling or walking.
  • Cannock chase offers a variety of trails for the beginner leisure cyclist through to the experienced Downhill rider.
  • Dimmingsdale is also a popular leisure route along a disused railway track, from Oakamoor to Denstone.

The Peak District and Derbyshire is one of the Uk’s most popular walking destinations the options are endless, Dovedale has many beautiful walks varying in difficulty and length. For families we are a 5 minute drive from The National Forest Adventure Farm, a 30 minute drive from Alton Towers and splash landings and a 40 minute drive from the Monkey Forest at Trentham, where you can also find a selection of boutique shops and have a wander around the beautiful gardens.
