Potter's Lodge yurt

Welcome to Potter's Lodge yurt.

Potter's Lodge is one of our three beautiful yurts at Peake's Retreats. Potter's Lodge was the second of our three yurts to be installed and finished ready for bookings and we have been welcoming guests to stay in this yurt since March 2018.

Potter's Lodge is a 6 metre yurt hand built from ash wood in Shropshire by Moore's Yurts. Our Windy Smithy wood-burning stove keeps it super cosy in winter and with having had an extra lining of sheep felt insulation it can be used all year round and as long as you have a little bit of fire know-how you will stay lovely and warm, even through the coldest January days.

Since March 2022 Potter's Lodge now also benefits from it's own private jacuzzi style hot tub on the decking right next to the yurt, available to use from 7am-11pm (please see hot tub rules below).

All of our yurts sleep up to 6 guests and are ideal for couples, families or groups. The number of guests in your booking will determine the number of beds we set up, and often bed sharing is required so do keep this in mind when booking for groups. Our standard setups are as follows, but if you need something a little different to suit your group do let us know as we can usually accommodate this, although extra charges maybe incurred if we need to spend extra time setting up additional beds, and additional laundry not already covered in the cost of your stay.

Potter's Lodge for:

2 people- Superking size (and so to bed London) bed + 2 single daybeds made up as sofas rather than beds
3 people- Superking size bed + 1 single daybed made as a sofa and 1 single daybed with duvet etc as a bed

Hot tub

Potter's Lodge benefits from it’s own private hot tub. You can use the hot tub between the hours of 7am and 11pm, please be mindful of our quiet hours which begin at 10pm and end at 7am, and always considerate of other guests onsite.

Please familiarise yourself with our other hot tub rules before using the hot tub by clicking here You may see us checking your hot tub at various point throughout your stay, this is just to ensure the balance of chemicals is correct to keep your hot tub hygienic.

 Towels

Recently we have experienced a high number of damaged or missing towels and have unfortunately had to introduce a towel deposit. For a towel bundle of 1 x bath towel and 1 x hand towel the deposit of £5 CASH (unfortunately we cannot accept card payments for the deposit) per person which will be returned at the end of your stay when you return the towels to us in good condition. Alternatively please feel free to bring your own.
If you wish to use our towels please let us know and we can arrange for you to collect them on arrival.

Shower and toilets

Potter's Lodge has it’s own private bathroom located within the yurt shower and toilet building that nobody else has access to during your stay. The key to your bathroom is on your yurt keyring. We provide lovely Neals Yard Toiletries in each bathroom. We have chosen to use the larger bottles and re-fill them rather than to provide throw away small bottles in order to reduce the amount of plastic waste we create (plus they look really pretty in the blue bottles)

Please do leave these at the end of your stay. They are available to purchase if you wish to take some with you.

Cooking onsite and eating out.

Your fridge can be found in the cooking cabin. It is clearly labelled as the 'Potter's Lodge' Fridge.

You will find a selection of pots, pans and utensils in your yurt and the cooking cabin. Please ensure all pots, pans, plates etc are washed up and put away at the end of your stay. The cooking cabin benefits from a full sized electric range cooker, please note this is a shared facility so please do ensure that the cooking cabin is left as you would wish to find it as soon as you have finished preparing your meals.

You can also use our communal BBQ hut. charcoal is not included as part of your stay but we do sell it onsite

Please leave all communal areas as you would wish to find them.

For our top picks on where to eat out locally visit our blog here.

Conduct onsite

A reminder that quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am and we will pop round and gently remind you if noise levels are deemed excessive enough to disrupt other guests.

We politely ask that you do not smoke in the yurt or in communal areas, please also do not smoke when using your hot tub. Any signs of smoking will be charged for at the end of your stay. There must be no glass bought into the hot tub area for safety reasons, this includes bottles, glasses or any other kind of glass. We provide you with plastic glasses so that you may take drinks into the hot tub area.

Dogs Onsite

We love meeting your four legged friends and all of our accommodation is dog friendly, we also offer doggy extras such as walking and dog sitting. We do ask that when onsite ALL dogs are kept on a lead at ALL times. We also ask that dogs are not left in any of the accommodation unattended, even if they are crated. This includes if you are using your hot tub. We have noticed an increase in distressed dogs who are in an unfamiliar place and when left alone often sit and howl, therefore disturbing others onsite. We have also experienced an increase in unattended dogs urinating in the accommodation. We don’t mind the use of long leads as long as your dog cannot disturb other guests. If we suspect unattended dogs in the accommodation we will ask for you to keep them with you, and any ignored requests will unfortunately result in you being asked to leave.
We also ask that even if other guests don’t mind you having your dog off the lead that you still keep your dog on the lead. When dogs have been let off lead we have found a lot of dog dirt left behind that owners have either ignored or were unaware of due to not following the dog on lead rule. We do have children playing onsite in and around the yurts, and even if there are no children onsite during your stay there may be some after your stay, and it is not pleasant and does not reflect well on us if there is dog dirt in the grass (which we will be keeping long during the summer months) where the children are playing. We have also experienced dogs off lead killing animals on our small holding before.

Visitors onsite

One of the charms of our site is that it is a small, intimate hidden away site and bearing this in mind we don’t want it to get overcrowded for the enjoyment of all guests. That being said we do permit a limited amount of pre-arranged visitors between the hours of 10am and 9pm for £5 per person (under 2’s free) and £10 per dog. All visitors MUST be pre-arranged and text 07725403070 on arrival with their car registration, and must have left the glampsite by 9pm. Any visitors who have not been pre-arranged will be asked to leave. Our site is very popular with larger groups of friends and family, and we often see groups book the entire site which sleeps 20 in total, so do speak to us if you would like to discuss booking other accommodation for a get together or party.

Checkout

Checkout is strictly no later than 10am on your day of departure and we ask that you leave The yurt clean and tidy with all rubbish placed in the bins by the cooking cabin and all washing up done and returned to your yurt. We do not require you to strip the beds but we are always very grateful if you do. Please leave all windows and doors open if it is not raining or likely to rain to help air the yurt, and leave your key in the door.

A late checkout may be pre-arranged. This option is £25 and would give you a checkout time of 12pm. Late checkout is not always available so do let us know if you wish to add this to your booking and we will check availability. Please note that any late departures that haven't been pre-arranged will be charged at £50. Our housekeeping team starts at 10am so please do not be offended if we politely remind you of the checkout time as it approaches.
